Trail Signage Project (Sat, August 22, 2026)

this trail work day will go directly towards achieving the long-term goal of MAKING SIGNAGE GREAT AGAIN on our Baxter Trail Set. We will tackle the Berkshire loop trails, hammering the sign posts into the ground and attaching the necessary stickers to communicate vital navigational information. Workscope includes tasks with moderate upper body strength, high levels of intelligence, and ability to walk 2-3 miles.

Due to the nature of the work, we will not need more than 7-8 participants.

Work Day on the Trails (Fri, September 18, 2026)

Bridge Building

September 18,19, 20, 2026

Meet at 8:30 AM Saturday and Sunday at the Community Center car park to pick up tools, review the work flow and safe practices before heading out to the bridge site

Bridge 29 is at the south end of the Birkshire loop, north of trailhead G and down the hill. On Friday we will demolish the existing bridge. We will begin by removing the side rails and the bridge deck. Then we will drop the joists, cut them into smaller pieces and move them out of the work area. With that done we can begin to build the new bridge.

On Saturday we will transport materials from the drop area and remove the demolished lumber. At the same time we will begin erection of the new bridge from bottom up.

We do not expect to complete the bridge in one day. We will continue on Sunday.

Select the day(s) and times you want to work, anything from 2 to 8 hours is helpful. Friday we need a small crew,4-6 people, Saturday and Sunday we can use more folks

We will provide water and take hydration breaks. A lunch will be provided each day.

Please bring your own gloves if you have them, we do have some you can borrow. Wear work boots and dress appropriately. Insect repellent is a good idea.

Bridge building is fun and satisfying!
